The Fiesta de la Vendimia in Requena, which celebrates the grape harvest at the end of August, is said to be the oldest of its kind in Spain. This year’s event takes place from 23 August to 3 September and features a packed calendar of activities that fill the streets of Requena with a great party atmosphere. From the crowning of the Festival Queen and traditional processions, to the stamping of the grapes, mascletàs and firework displays, it’s the festival highlight of the year. Alongside the traditional events of the Fiesta, you can also visit Feria Requenense del Vino, a unique market where you can discover and taste the area’s fine local wines and cava. Casa de las Viñas is just 8km outside Requena – the perfect rural base to dip in and out of the festivities!
